Blake told police that he left Bakley, who lived in a separate bungalow on his property, sitting in the car while he returned to Vitello's to retrieve his handgun which had fallen out of his jacket pocket. When he returned, he found her bleeding from a gunshot to the head and gasping for breath. Los Angeles Daily News comes out of Woodland Hills, covers outlying areas of Los Angeles County, like San Fernando Valley. It's part of the Los Angeles NewsGroup which includes the Pasadena Star-News and several other dailies in Southern California. LA Daily also covers more northerly areas of LA County. Maybe Blake did not walk Bonnie Lee to the car. I wonder if the keys were left in the ignition. ***Braun says Blake did walk her to the car, they got in and that's when Blake realized he didn't have the gun. ***I don't buy the hitman in the backseat. We don't know the exact position of the entry wound, but anything behind the right ear would be incredibly awkward to negotiate from the back seat. I would expect either a blast right to the back of her head or, if the headrest was in the way, a shot behind the *left* ear. I don't really buy the the hitman in the back seat either.....it just doesn't sit well with me or my gut. Seems to me though that a hitman in the back seat coulda just as easily came up around from the right side of the headrest and shot her behind the right ear. Josie

I lean toward believing Blake is being truthful about that, because it seems a pretty risky thing to lie about. He could so easily be caught in that particular lie. He wouldn't know if his table had been bussed, and new clients seated immediately while he & Leebonny were walking back to their car, or not. In other words, if he said he came back for the gun, and was lying, he risked the restaurant people saying, There was no gun left at that table because we cleaned it immediately & seated another couple there, and none of them saw a thing
