So my question is why did you bother to even ask the question in the first place? I think it's important that we be clear what the original question was: My question is, would there be a combination of relatively easy tests without sedation that could provide enough information to point towards something like Crohn's? I've always been hesitant of the colonoscopy, and I came to usenet in the hope that someone knew of something I didn't that might allow me to get a better idea as to whether or not I have an IBD without actually having the scope tests. Surprisingly someone offered me just that. Prometheus Labs offer serology products for helping with IBD diagnosis and differentiation. This is exactly what I wanted to be informed about, since it would be another piece of information without having a scope jammed down my holes.
